Dear friend,
There's something very exciting happening in the Buffalo Grove
Jewish community, and we would like to provide you the opportunity
to become involved. It's called BAY Shul which stands
for
Bais
Ahavas Yisroel
-
House (that promotes)
love of your fellow Jews.
Bais
Ahavas Yisroel
is an Orthodox synagogue
that promises to be a new beginning for some and a recommitment for
others. At BAY Shul, you will find a warm, friendly synagogue
that provides unique insight into Judaism and the world today.
How can one institution offer so much for so many? The answer
is simple…BAY Shul literally has something for everyone, no matter
what your Jewish identity, level of observance or understanding of
religious concepts. Our goal is to provide a growth
environment, with a strong emphasis on family and social
programming.
BAY Shul is located at 314
N. McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60089. Enter by Baird and
Warner, proceed upstairs, and follow the hallway to the right.

HALACHA HIGHLIGHTS
Memorable moments from Mishna Berura Yomi
Laws of Torah Reading
-the one who is reading from the Torah must be standing
-the person called up for the aliya should read along with the
leader in an undertone
-if the bracha was made over the wrong portion of the Torah, it need
not be repeated unless the Torah was opened several columns away
from the correct place of reading
-a minyan of ten men must be present in order to read from the Torah
-if 10 men were present and one or two left in the middle of the
reading-the Torah reading may continue
-if there is a mistake in the Torah-then what was already read is
considered valid, but what was not yet read should be read from a
kosher Torah
As a merit for the soul of Chaim Yehuda Leib ben Yosef Chaim z"l
